Dahab on the Red Sea

Dahab is a small town with about 6000 inhabitants and is located on the Sinai Peninsula on the unique underwater paradise of shore of the Golf of Aqaba. The huge coral reefs are home to anemones and agile schools of fish in thousands of bright colours. The diving mecca is the famous "Blue Hole", which is only 6 km away from the school/accommodation.

On the Corniche, Dahab's exit mile, there are numerous restaurants mixed with an oriental bazaar and local street performers. While the sea turns reddish gold at sunset and the mountains in the hinterland light up in rich purple, the small bars on the beach attract visitors with "happy hours" at pleasant temperatures. A colourful gathering of water sports enthusiasts, locals and students, who sit down by candlelight on traditional colourfully patterned Bedouin seat cushions and let themselves be spoilt by the oriental cuisine.

The desert, which winds through colourful canyons (wadi) and fascinating rock formations, offers ideal conditions for excursions such as to Moses Mountain (2285m), in whose biblical story Moses learned the Ten Commandments.
